Drill Accessories

The first thing of note here is that I use a drill and an impact driver in tandem. Not one in each hand, although that does sound like fun if you can make it work. But more seriously, I use a drill to do jobs like pilot holes and the driver to screw.

Sounds obvious but the amount of time I used to spend with just a drill, changing from the counter sink bit back to the cross head bit, back and forth, all day, just started to slow me down too much.

So I bought an impact driver and never looked back. It’s a beast, and I dont say that lightly.

But if you only have a drill and that is where you are at both in terms or budget and skill level, then that is just fine. All of the accessories below are in my workshop and work for makers of all levels. I have even put cheap alternatives to the more pricey items so you dont have to go straight to the top.

2023’s top 3 seller. This attachment is one that you never realised you needed until you bought it once and used it in nearly every project. Well, you will if you fail to plan as badly as I fail to plan. Gets into all the tight to reach places.

If it is in your budget, buy the DeWalt version. But if it is out of range for now, then this one gets the job done. It’s just a little more finicky.

2023’s overall best seller. These are amazingly well made and do the job that they are designed to do every time. If you make a lot of hinged boxes or hang doors, these are the best.

A lower grade but inexpensive version of the Bosch self centring drill bits. For people who only occasionally use them.

All UK links are for products that I have used. US links are the closest I can find. They are recommendations made from my experience, yours may differ.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. It is a small income to the channel at no extra cost to the buyer.

A great starter set. You can buy a more pricey option that has a depth stop but to begin with, these are just fine.

These were an impulse purchase once and I still have and use them. Get the depth of bit right and they hold a screw perfectly to give you an extra hand free.

Before I had an orbital sander, I had these. They are not the same but in a pinch you can use your drill to smooth. It’s great for people on limited budgets getting started.
