Wood Glues and Adhesives
2 things that you should not underestimate. How many types of glue and their quantity you need and how many jobs you will find for blue tape. That feels like 3 things.
So glue first. Find a wood glue that you like and that suits your purpose. I find the Titebond type 3 is a little pricier but it covers all bases., It is food safe, outdoor rated and has a slightly longer working time which I like as glue ups rarely go right first time.
CA glue is vital in the workshop. Grab the activator too and realise that waiting a full 30 seconds was always too long and now you feel like a pro.
And then there is blue tape. Good for everything you see it used for in every video showing the uses. All but one anyway. I have come to realise in time that double sided tape is a better solution for the old blue tape and CA glue hold down trick. Try it and you will see.
Spend what you feel you can afford on this stuff. The link is to the cheaper end of the market but it does a job for me. I suggest having a stock of thin width and medium width at all times.
When waiting 30 seconds for CA glue to go off is just too much. Jokes aside, this is really handy for setting the CA glue and just moving on with the job.
General all purpose CA glue. Good viscosity for all jobs.
Thin viscosity CA glue so that it can soak into joints and into already glued areas that just need a little more hold.
Spreading and scraping. The silicone brush is brilliant. Just let the glue dry and then pull it out. It’s actually fairly satisfying.
Brilliant glue applicator for accuracy and easy clean up. The special design means you can use it without tipping it and waiting for the glue to run down. This is surprisingly handy.
Pick the glue that suits. Brand and type. This is the one I use as it has a linger open time and it works for outdoors and food safe. The US link is the closest thing.
Nice kit that includes the brush and a tray to pour the glue into and a spreader for larger areas.
All UK links are for products that I have used. US links are the closest I can find. They are recommendations made from my experience, yours may differ.
