Clamping
Everyone will tell you that you can never have enough clamps. But if you are just starting out this is not the case at all. What you need in my opinion is the right clamps at the right time.
I started out with some super inexpensive red handled f-clamps and while I made them work, just about, I wish I had started at the Jorgensen Orange f clamps and then expanded from there.
For a starter I would say that a rough amount of clamps to get you started would be:
4 x small / medium f style clamps
4 x small / medium quick squeeze clamps
1 x Ratchet Clamp but only if you are making boxes or frames
3 x sash clamps for panel glue ups and larger reach
And that is about it. From there you can expand as your skills and range of builds improves.
My Go-To clamps for most applications that need a better hold that a squeeze clamp. Tip - I buy 4 of these every Black Friday sale and just let the collection slowly grow.
Slightly lower clamping strength that the F style clamps but quick to use and great if you are moving them on and off a lot.
Make frame, mitre box and large box glue-ups 10x simpler. Feel free to send me your storage solutions because that is the only downside of this clamp.
These come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. I keep 20 odd around for a multitude of uses. And there are metal ones if you want mega squeeze pressure.

These are not the strongest of holds but for small box making they are so very useful. Combine them with the small plastic squares in the squares section and you can hold a box together while your glue cures.
Definitely not a holding choice for strength. But if you want to hold 2 boards together while attaching an f style clamp, these are like an extra hand.
Pick the length you need. Perfect for panel glue ups and also as an additional long clamp. Quick Tip. Pop a well fitted length of timber through the middle of the length to give it additional strength.
